Overcoming Low Self-Esteem (how to feel beautiful)

This post is a more personal kind of post, I briefly mentioned before on my blog that I have suffered with low self esteem and how blogging and other bits I've picked up along the way have helped me get over that and feel alot more comfortable in my own skin. I am not saying I am 100% confident but let's just say I'm alot better then what I was a year ago and truthfully, I've learnt to accept that I am me and I can not change that.

'To all the girls that think your fat because your not a size zero, you're the beautiful one its society who's ugly' - Marilyn Monroe

'Proof That you can be adored by thousands of men, even when your thighs touch'

Statistics -
* More than 90 percent of girls – 15 to 17 years – want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance, with body weight ranking the highest.

* Girls’ self-esteem peaks when they are 9 years old.

* 80% of children who are 10 years old are afraid of being fat.

* Nearly a quarter of girls age 15-17 would consider undergoing plastic surgery.

*13 percent of girls age 15-17 acknowledge having an eating disorder.

*80% of 10-year-old girls have dieted. 90% of high school junior and senior women diet regularly.

All these statistics are shocking, and true. I go to an all girls school so I there is naturally more competition to be the 'prettiest' or to have the 'nicest' hair, which I think knocks your self esteem quite alot.

The fact that girls as young as 9 are feeling down because of their body, is awful, they are so young!

At one point, I went through a slight rough patch with my self esteem, it was pretty bad, I remember going on holiday and even though it was absolutely boiling I would sit there in my top and shorts, I would NOT just lie there in my bikini, because I thought someone would be looking and making remarks about my body. Looking back now, I think I was stupid and it really put a downer to my holiday.

Now that I am feeling more comfortable in my skin I thought I'd make a post and how I become more comfortable and confident with yourself.

I have a few tips to help make yourself feel more comfortable in your own skin -

1) Compliment yourself - Naturally when you stand in front of a mirror you will look at the area of your body your unhappy with such as your stomach or thighs and quickly judge yourself and moan about it, which instantly puts you in a bad mood and makes you feel like crap. Now when you stand in front of a mirror think of something good about yourself, for example if you like your hair, then compliment yourself. It sounds weird and 'vain' but trust me, it works. It stops yourself thinking about the 'bad' things and you concentrate on the 'good' things. Complimenting other people will also help both you and the other person.

2) Find your style - Find your style and what suits you. When you don't feel comfortable in what your wearing then all day you won't feel confident and it'll constantly be in the back of your mind. For example, if you don't feel comfortable in short shorts.. don't wear them! All day you'll just be thinking, 'is my bum showing', 'OMG I feel so fat'.. It's not a nice feeling. Always try clothes on and imagine being out in a busy place with the piece of clothing on, would you feel good in it? Don't feel pressurized into wearing something because it's on trend. You can be trendy and comfortable at the same time.

3) Don't Compare yourself - This is one that I feel happens alot. I am someone who opens up a magazine and look at a picture of someone and want her figure, and then compare my body to hers. Why? This then makes me feel bad about my body and want to change it. Truth is, alot of magazine photo shoots are airbrushes and imperfections of the celebrity have been covered up!

4) Bring out what you like about yourself - Wear clothing or make up that will help enhance your natural beauty. If you love your waist & Hips, wear a nice belt that will pinch your waist in. If you like your legs, show them off, but please girls do NOT wear shorts that show your bum... it is not attractive.

5) SMILE - This sounds like a pretty stupid one, but smiling helps your confidence. I'm a huge smiler, I'm always smiling. When someone smiles, there eyes brighten and they instantly look more beautiful. If you are walking down the street smiling, I don't mean a full on teeth smile otherwise you'll look like this -

And people will just think your weird. Just smile naturally. Remember, the best curve on a woman's body is their smile.

Doing all this regularly will really help boost your confidence and help you feel more beautiful in your own skin.

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish

The award winning Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish has to be hands down the most hyped up cleanser in the beauty world. It's a product I hear about on many blogs and many people say it is their favourite or holy grail cleanser, I always hear people including my auntie raving about this product and I since starting my blog, I've always been slightly intrigued to find out what the hype is all about.

When the product came in the post it was wrapped up in some lovely tissue paper which I thought was a really cute and nice touch, The Cleanser and the two muslin cloths that come with it are then kept in a cute bag which will come in handy when travelling with the cleanser. The bottle is a pretty sort of mint green colour, with a very handy and easy to use pump dispenser. (can also comes in a squeezy tube)

The Cleanse & Polish is Liz Earle's one and only cleanser because of it been suitable for all skin types and because it is gentle yet powerful enough to remove every scrap of make up. However Liz Earle has released a Limited Edition Rose & Lavender Cleanse & Polish   (£19.75).
The Rose & Lavender version of the Cleanse & Polish is limited edition and every when purchasing it £2.00 will be donated to 'The Prince's Trust'.

Sorry for the weird angle

Ideal for your morning or evening cleanse, this formulation works on every age and skin type, offering concentrated yet gentle cleansing power.

The consistency of the Cleanse & Polish is quite thick, rich and creamy, which when massaged into the skin it melts into the skin leaving a beautiful spa-like scent.

Phase one is the cleansing. Free from mineral oil, it has a rich and creamy texture and swiftly removes all traces of face and eye make up, even stubborn mascara.
Phase two is the polishing. Wet the Cloth with hot water and Polish off the cream using the pure muslin cloth to gently dislodge dead skin cells and help reveal clean, soft and radiant skin.

Naturally active ingredients include eucalyptus and cocoa butter for smoother, cleaner skin. - Full list of ingredients

The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is incredibly gentle and I've used it on my eyes when removing mascara and there was absolutely no stinging present. Cleanse & Polish removes every single scrap of make up including the nasty to remove stubborn waterproof cleanser. It's super easy and quick to use and will be something I would recommend and would be fabulous to buy for yourself or for somebody else as a gift (Christmas anyone?!)

The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish will be something I would definitely be repurchasing!

Dee Dee Sparkles Sweets Iphone Case

My Iphone is literally my baby, I have it with me all the time, If I'm not on it, it'll always be in my bag or my pocket, I'm always looking for new cases for my phone to protect it, and I came across Dee Dee Sparkles on twitter and fell in love. They really love their sparkles!

Today I will be showing you the Sweets Phone Case which she kindly made me!

I am in love with this case, as soon as I got it in the post, I put it on my phone. Its absolutely beautiful, I love it so so much! I really love the colours and how the pearls are as a border around the phone but then scattered in the middle of the phone.

On the phone case are 'fake' sweets like look so real, makes me hungry but there are sweets from Jelly baby, Gummy Bears, Love Hearts, dolly mixtures and Liquorice Allsorts, Yummy!
I love the colours of the phone case, so girly and fun!

The case in which the pearls and sweets are stuck onto is clear which I like as it doesn't make the case to OTT and busy.

The Case is absolutely beautiful and I can't stop looking at it! I've had so many compliments from people and Dee Dee Sparkles do loads more cases for different phones! The prices are really good too!

I love all the cases and I will definitely be making a purchase soon! Will You?

Andrea Fulerton - Flip Flop French Duo (sadie) REVIEW

Hi everyone, today I will be reviewing the Andrea Fulerton - Flip Flop French Nail Polish.

The Andrea Fulerton Flip Flop French Duo's are a double sided nail polish, one side is an opaque colour, the other a shimmer colour! Each side is 4.4ml, so all together you get 8.8ml of product. I think you are meant to apply the shimmer colour all over the nail and then apply the colour as a tip, which I love and it gives a really funky retro vibe to the nails. The opaque colour has an angled brush, the shimmer colour just a normal brush. I love the angled brush as it makes it easy to get a nice line.

The shade I have is 'sadie' which is a beautiful bright lime green and there is also a gold shimmer polish. The green needs about 2-3 coats when applied all over the nail and when the shimmer is applied all over the nail I also use 2-3 coats. The only negative things about this and it is quite large negative point and that is, that it is double sided, I feel they could have done better doing a set with two separate polishes, as I find this very awkward to store, because if your like me and stand your polishes up right, then one polish of this will be upside down, and I don't like storing polishes upside down so the only way to store is on its side...which to me is really annoying, the other negative thing being I find it quite pricey at £5.99. Other than that I was very impressed with the polish and I am definitely going to buy some more Andrea Fulerton Polishes. I love the look this creates and I will look into buying the shade ruby as that looks amazing!

What do you think? Yay or Nay?

Perfume Collection - PART 1

Hi everyone so today, is my perfume collection! I actually have never bought myself a perfume! I always receive perfumes as a gift, for Christmas..birthdays! I cant actually believe ive never bought my self a perfume, mind you theres that many perfumes I love I’d buy to many! So my perfume collections are going to be split into 2 halves, perfumes and body sprays.

So lets get straight into it!

 Someday By Justin Bieber
This is my go to perfume, I use it nearly everyday! I absolutely love it! It smells so feminine and fresh! Its fruity/floral which I absolutely love and I also like how when the scent fades you are left with a slight musky vanilla scent! I love this perfume so much!

 Juicy Couture
Again this is fruity/floral! Ive almost ran out which im gutted about because its such a stunning scent! Whenever I wear it I get compliments. It can be over powering if you spray to much, but I just make sure I don’t. It just smells amazing!

 Escada Ocean Lounge
This is the 2009 scent from Escada.. its probably my least favourite perfume, that’s why I still have it! It is a very over powering sicky, sweet fruity scent.. I don’t like this because its too fruity for my liking. I don’t use it on my body, but I do sometimes spray it in my wardrobe and around my room to make my room & clothes smell nice!

Paco Rabanne Black XS (for her)
Again this is such a nice scent. Ive just ran out of this. It’s a fruity/floral but to me its more on the musky floraly side! It smells so fresh on your skin, and although its fruity its not a ‘teenage’ scent and even though its florally its not an ‘old’ scent!

DKNY be delicious & Red Delicious (minis)
Now this is the most amazing, fresh, prettiest scent ever! I absolutely love this perfume, got to be my favourite perfume ever, I have to ration myself when I use it because I don’t want to use it up! They smell so fruity but a fresh fruity! Its delicious!! Im definitely going to get the full sized soon!

Juicy Couture – Couture Couture (mini)
I need the full sized to this!!! Its such a beautiful floral scent which smells really feminine and pretty! I always feel really fresh when wearing this! I love how its mini because I can just throw it in my bag! Its sooo nice!

 Versus Red Jeans
This is a nice floral scent, but more on the young teenage scent! Its quite strong so you don’t need loads on! It does feel very nice & clean, which I like and its not to over powering when you walk past someone!

Lipsy rollerballs
These don’t have a name but they’re from a lipsy perfume gift set I got at Christmas. They all smell very nice a fruity and florally!  (there are 3, but my other is in my bag)

This isn’t a perfume, its actually a refill which you put perfume in and then you can take it out, so I have my Justin bieber perfume in it at the moments, its just easier and more practical then walking around with a big 100ml bottle!

So I was just sat here and I realised I never did a complete overall review of the kerastraight keratin treatment! So I'll do one now! I actually had mine last July I think there are reviews and first thoughts on my blog! And I got my natural hair back around September! It lasted quite long and it was really good having it in summer where hair usually frizzes from the heat & sweat or anything like that. Is it worth it's money? £180? It's worth it's money if your hair is really curly/frizzy and you can't control it, then yes it's worth it's money, if your hair is just wavy or straight then no I don't think so. It is meant to help damaged hair I don't think it did really, I just straightened it. I would have the treatment done again but only in summer where I have my hair down alot more! Also the shampoo & conditioner isnt necessary i used it around 4 times its horrible & its stinks really bad!
If you have any questions about the Kerastraight treatment tweet me @bethlovebeauty or comment below
